Indonesia Crowned Its First Miss International Title

IMG_6783Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan, Kevin Liliana crowned as the first Miss International from Indonesia yesterday (14/11). Liliana was crowned by her predecessor, Kylie Verzosa of Philippines. The pageant took place in Tokyo Dome Hall, where 70 beauties all over the world competed for the 57th title of Miss International. Miss International itself was established on 1960 in Long Beach, California. Indonesia wins its very first title of Miss International since their participation back in 1960.

Kevin Liliana, 21 is a student of Interior Design in Maranatha Christian University Bandung. Liliana stands 177 cm and previously crowned as Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2017 or 1st Runner Up in Puteri Indonesia 2017 pageant. Liliana’s victory in this pageant makes her become the 2nd Indonesian woman to win the major 5 pageants.

 

Besides winning the coveted title of Miss International, Liliana also win the title of Miss Best Dresser. It was a back-to-back award given to Indonesia after last year’s Felicia Hwang who also crowned as the 2nd Runner Up won the title. Liliana wore Ivan Gunawan’s gown during the Miss International finale.

Indonesia also wear a “Mbok Jamu” national costume this year, “Mbok Jamu” is a term for Indonesian traditional health potion seller. This costume was designed by Annisa Banyuwangi using an unique purple kebaya.

IMG_6799Kevin Liliana’s victory also put her name in the achievement list of Indonesia in Miss International history. Indonesia first debuted in Miss International on 1960, the national pageant who has the permission to sent the delegates that time was Miss Java and Miss Indonesia Programme back in 1960 and 1969. Later, on 2007, Yayasan Puteri Indonesia took over the franchise and started to sent its Runner Up since 2007.

2009 – Ayu Diandra Sari (Missosology People’s Choice)

2010 – Zukhiratul Hafizah (Miss Friendship)

2014 – Elfin Pertiwi Rappa (Top 10, Best National Costume)

2016 – Felicia Hwang (2nd Runner Up, Best Dresser)

2017 – Kevin Liliana (MISS INTERNATIONAL 2017, Best Dresser, Missosology People’s Choice)
